I’ve been asked numerous times over the years about my thoughts on the term “Authentic Mission” and if I believe that everyone is meant to be in business in order to serve the world through their authentic mission and unique purpose.
My answer is a great big “NO”!
You do not need to be in business to serve your authentic mission or Divine purpose. I have met the most amazing, loving, compassionate women who are stay at home moms and are truly living their purpose. I’ve met grocery store clerks who have touched me deeply because they are so in touch with their joy and their passion that it radiates outward and you can feel their truth. They are living their authentic mission!
Living your mission is when your inner and outer worlds are congruent. To clarify your mission is not the LABEL you use in the world (teacher, coach, taxi driver, best-selling author etc.) it is the essence of you are at your core when you are in alignment with your Source of connection, joy and presence. Be sure to check out some of my other blog posts where I go much deeper into authenticity, mission and purpose. Today I want to share the 5 powerful benefits to (re)connecting with your authentic mission.
1. Fuel for the Fire – When you connect with your authentic mission it’s as if life goes from a black and white movie to high- definition full color vibrancy. You become a passionate co-creator of your life and your passion becomes the fuel that feeds your every action and leads you to a fuller, richer life and thriving business.
2. Tuned In – Once you have discovered or (re)connected with the passion that fuels you it’s as if you become finely tuned to the Universal Radio Station – or universal life flow. You will notice an increase in your ability to focus when you begin basing all your decisions from the place of fulfilling that passion and mission.
3. Increased Synchronicities – The more you tune into the Universal flow the more you will begin to notice an increase in Divine synchro-nicities and opportunities coming into your life and your business. You begin naturally attracting like-minded people who are tuned into the same Universal Radio Station and who are in perfect alignment with your mission.
4. Inner Wisdom – As you dedicate yourself to learning to trust, express and take action on the Divine messages, synchronicities and opportunities you are strengthening your inner wisdom muscles. You develop a much stronger sense of faith and belief in yourself and the Universal stream of support that surrounds you.
5. Joy – When you shift from just existing or allowing life to happen to you and commit to a life where you honor, trust and listen to your Inner Wisdom a beautiful energetic begins. As you step more and more into your authentic mission, you will experience a sense of inner joy and gratitude that becomes the essence of who you are –no matter what is happening in your outside world. A deep sense of peace and joy begins to permeate all aspects of your being and your life – bringing even more synchronistic opportunities.
YOUR THOUGHTS MATTER!
I invite you to share your thoughts on the above or share a personal experience you’ve had on your journey to reconnecting with your authentic self.
Stuart Young says
Acceptance. This for me is the great stress reliever. When I accept circumstances that I can’t change or influence I feel calmer. When I am in that state of mind I see opportunities that were always there, but invisible to me. Intuition comes in a whisper, we must be quiet so we can hear it. 🙂
LindaJoy says
Stuart it’s so true isn’t it? When we accept instead of fight our circumstances we are aligned with our spirit and not our ego and enter into a state of inner peace. (It took me years to GET that)
Sharon Deugo says
Hi Linda, I was introduced to you this week through the Transformation Author Program. I heard you speak and I immediately “connected” with your message, wisdom and passion for what you do. The resonance I felt to your words and expression of what you do, guided me to your web-site and this blog. It always amazes me when I listen to my inner guidance and how I am taken right where I need to be. I have been so indecisive in where to go with my business so I have been seeking information and guidance to move forward with getting my message out into the world. I believe I have a found inspiration and resources here, so I will be visiting often. Your 5 points above have ignited the spark within me to keep on keeping on. I woke up this morning in pure “joy” and you had a very big part in that so a hearty “thank you and blessings’ for a magnificent day. Love and Light Sharon
LindaJoy says
Sharon, I’m glad my message resonated so deeply with you and I’m honored that you stopped by to share your loving thoughts. Now more than ever the world needs women like you to continue following their intuitive nudges and calling of the soul and step out and share their unique gifts with the world. Keep moving forward to your dreams and keep up the blessed healing work you are doing.
Tara Sage Steeves says
“Living your mission is when your inner and outer worlds are congruent.”
What a powerful concise capture of Truth, Linda!
Thank you for all you do! xo
LindaJoy says
Tara, thanks love! My message resonated because you too are living your authentic truth and message, my friend! Honored that our paths crossed eight years ago. It’s been wonderful watching your DREAM unfold!
Teri Goetz says
I so love love love this message, Linda. I know by speaking with you how authentic your words truly are. I absolutely agree that when you tune in to your purpose AND go with the flow, life becomes technicolor (Is that dating myself?? I guess your HD is more current. lol) But truly, the excitement of BEING who you are – not what someone else says you should be. I think watching for the synchronicities, the flow, the joy is so important — instead of watching for the next thing to fix. Thanks for your wisdom!
LindaJoy says
Teri, thank you so much for your loving words. I agree, life goes from black & white to technicolor when we are living our truth and following the whispers of our soul. It’s been a journey to get to this point, more of an unfolding actually, but I wouldn’t trade any of it in for the world.
Sheila Callaham says
Hi Linda, thanks for this lovely heart-centered message. I knew for a long time that I was not living authentically but I continued to ignore the call for all the wrong reasons. As a result, my health began to decline, I became depressed, and every day wore on me like a burden. Finally, I accepted my inner reality and decided I had no choice but to walk away from what wasn’t right for me so that I could live. That was three years ago and I have never been happier and healthier! This is such an important message to share and I thank you!
LindaJoy says
Sheila, your journey mirrors that of myself and so many other women. The more we ignore the whispers of our soul and the calling of our hearts the further away from our truth we become until the disconnect shows up in our health (emotionally, physically and spiritually.) As we come back into alignment and leArn to trust ourselves again, we experience a shift into all the higher vibrations of life! Congratulations on taking inspired action to follow the whispers of your heart!
Andrea says
Thanks, Linda. It seems to me to be an ongoing process… I tune in, I ‘forget’, and, ultimately, get uncomfortable. When I’m uncomfortable enough to take a hard look and make changes? It happens all over again. Gratitude!
LindaJoy says
Andrea, that’s a great way to describe the process. I also use the phrase ‘sacred dance’ to describe it because when I let my heart/love/intuition lead the way I glide across the dance floor called life… twirling, joyful, free-spirited and when I ‘forget’ my and let fear/ego lead the way my dance with life becomes stiff, heavy, and stilted. I can promise you that the more and more you listen the less and less you’ll forget… Magic happens.
Tina says
I completely resonate with your article Linda! I let joy be my guide and let that inform the choices and decisions I make along the way as I marvel at the synchronicities that present themselves. For me it’s all about being real, expressing the divinity I am and being willing for everything which is not that, to be released. It’s amazing how deeply conditioned some of the programs of limitation are held in the levels of our mind, body and life… especially the people pleaser program, which the commitment to re-connecting with our authentic mission will bust for sure, especially when we connect with one another and are willing to let ourselves be seen as we are… beautiful expressions of divinity here to share our unique contributions… authentic mission, no matter what we find ourselves ‘doing’ in the world. Thanks for all your inspiration and many joy sprinkles of appreciation from my heart to yours! Tina
LindaJoy says
Tina, you, my friend are JOY personified. I love what you said. “I let joy be my guide and let that inform the choices and decisions I make along the way as I marvel at the synchronicities that present themselves?” LOVE IT! Like you, I’ve discovered that when I allow joy and passion to lead the way life responds with an abundance of opportunities to lead us to the next part of our journey. Big love for the work you do on the Joy Sprinkle Trail.
Minette says
Linda Joy, what a great post and thank you for supporting all women in their authentic mission, not just entrepreneurs. Great tips on how to tune in and revel in our own inner wisdom. One of the things I have discovered in the past few years is that my own creativity is crucial to my personal mission and fuels my spirit. Sometimes it’s part of my work as a coach but more often than not, it’s what I need to do to keep going and to stay connected. It’s been a fun journey recognizing that not all of my passion has to be channeled to business/work but that art, volunteerism and other activities are also important to my life path.
LindaJoy says
Minette, you’re welcome. I truly believe that in living authentically we allow the true essence of who we are to lead the way and in doing so we bring that passion and energy into ALL we do. AS you shared, we are multidimensional and that passion gets channeled into all aspects of our life… Creativity, social good, relationships etc. It’s a life line to our soul’s purpose.
Cali says
I can so relate to this Linda as I witness it every day in my own life and in others. I feel as we realize this, we become open to really seeing it in others as well. As with your examples of the stay at home mum and the grocery clerk. Joy radiates no matter what your profession. Thanks for sharing.
LindaJoy says
Cali, SOS true isn’t it? Joy is an essence that we can feel radiating from others and serves as a reminder to the joy we also have inside. Thanks for stopping by
Deanna Heiliger says
Linda, this is such an inspiring and powerful post! I agree with you 100%. Whether I am being a mom or writing a blog post or giving a talk…if I am connected with my Source and I am being authentic and present…my life just flows. My intuition is heightened and people come into my life to share this exceptional journey. Thank you for your touching words!
LindaJoy says
Deanna, YES, exactly a… Life flows when we are in our truth and connected to our source. Divine synchronicities appear and remind us that we are always being supported. Thanks Deanna

I love #5 Joy. Gave me goose bumps. So true of my life this past year as I have awakened to my authentic calling. 🙂
LindaJoy says
Mary, and what a year it’s been my friend. I’m honored to hold space for you as you awaken to the truth of who you are and the empowering work and message you are here to share. (((HUG)))
Michelle Dawnn says
Love this, Linda! Couldn’t agree more! Your tips really resonate with me and the work I do. Everyone has their own unique walk in life and staying in divine alignment allows us to realize the value of our existence. Life seems effortless when we listen to our inner wisdom and start honoring the true desires of our heart. Doors of opportunity begin to unfold and the Universe responds in a magical way. A powerful message indeed! Thanks for your wise words!!
LindaJoy says
Michelle, so true isn’t it that the Universe responds in a truly magical way when we begin letting our heart lead the way. Thanks for sharing
Sue Kearney (@MagnoliasWest) says
Linda, yes, exactly! I call it personal branding. When your walk matches your talk. When you think, speak and act consistently with your values. When these are in place you are in integrity, you are a living breathing manifestation of your sacred mission and purpose.
One more thought: Without rocking your solid personal brand, without that integrity, your business brand will have no foundation. None. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Bupkes.
Just sayin’…
Thanks for putting it so beautifully!!

Sue, ohh I love that… “Living breathing manifestation of your sacred mission and purpose.” For mission-driven heart-centered entrepreneurs doing business in the feminine we ARE the brand – and as you shared they are one and must be in alignment in order to serve. Thanks so much Sue
Nadia says

Cynthia Starborn says
Thanks, Linda, for using your mission as a writer, to support all of us in getting more in tune with our own unique mission(s) here!
LindaJoy says
Cynthia, you are more than welcome… I enjoy watching women step into their truth, and message so they can serve the world with their unique message!
Shelley Lundquist (@letmemoveyou) says
Great post, Linda! I find for me it is from remembering who i am, that flows my answers. And when i honour that, the rewards are spectacular. When we are focused on service, the Universe truly does conspire to help us achieve, and everything just falls into place.
Chara says
Linda, what an encouraging list! I am enjoying tracking the synchronicities as I move forward on my authentic path. You are a reassuring mentor on the way!
Debra Reble says
Wow Linda what an inspirational article for all of us looking to align with our authentic mission. I used to define myself with what I did for a living instead of my true being. I now align myself with “being” and this naturally flows into my passion and purpose. I like to say that I’m on purpose in every moment rather than limiting myself to one purpose or calling in life. Thanks for the light you are and for shining this light so others may benefit. Hugs and blessings galore
Debra Oakland says
Cheers to heart centered congruent living Linda! Living from the inside out vs the outside in is the only way to fly. Women are doing this in increasing numbers – what a JOY to see and experience. Thank you for all you do to contribute to this shift Linda! You Rock 🙂
Peggy Nolan says
Hi Linda,
For me it was all about shedding the crap other people heaped on me with their expectations of who and what I should be and do. Honing in on my mission and my truest authentic self has been a priority over the last several years. My purpose is to Teach with a capital “T.” Not just any kind of teaching but the Teaching that helps others tap into their core, their center, and the seat of their soul.

Sue Kearney (@MagnoliasWest) says
Yes, yes and more yes!
When I stopped resisting (even just a little bit) getting sick, nearly dying, the hospitalizations… when I stopped believing I was victimized by circumstances, I was able to accept, transform, and transmute those circumstances into experience. Experience for which I can be grateful. Experience I can use to support others who go through deep, difficult, and unexpected challenges. Experience I can use to be of service and live my heart’s mission and soul’s purpose, in my business, and in every interaction I have in my life.
Living proof is just how much my relationship with my adult daughter has changed (for the better, yo), and continues to change.
So grateful for you, Linda.
